Creative Spaces for Creative Minds
The Gaslight District is more than just a new place to live in Galt’s downtown core. It’s a creative neighbourhood with all the right ingredients to create a special vibrancy in Cambridge and become the home of artistic expression in Waterloo Region.
If you are seeking a place where people happily leave their private residences to take part in an exciting and ever-changing public life, you’ve found it in The Gaslight District.
Smart urban planning has shown that nothing adds buzz and excitement to a neighbourhood like the ability to experience new ideas and artistic expression. It has always been the key ingredient of significant urban communities such as SoHo, Chelsea and even Queen Street West. HIP Developments, the creators of The Gaslight District, understand this and have designed public spaces in Gaslight Square to accommodate a well curated mix of artists, makers and creative entrepreneurs.
Along the outer north and west edge of The Gaslight District, HIP Developments has designed 10 artist studio spaces. The Studios at Gaslight will be full of windows; open to light and to the public who can not only view newly finished pieces of art, but also experience art in the making. In order to create the right environment where community-culture is an important amenity, HIP has applied its “Free Streets” strategy, which acknowledges that innovative thinking requires the time, space and freedom to experiment. The Studios at Gaslight will be rent-free to hand selected tenants. This will give talented creators the financial breathing room needed to take a chance in perhaps developing the next big thing.
The benefit for the community is a true home for fresh and surprising art. You will have something to experience, absorb and reflect upon as you enjoy a nosh, a coffee or a cocktail in Gaslight Square.
Who knows, you might also end up with something amazing for the walls of your new condo too.
